Advocacy
When governments weaken protections for nature, Earthroots steps in - using law, science, and public pressure to defend what matters most.
Defending Ontario's Wild Legacy
For nearly four decades, Earthroots has stood as a fearless advocate for Ontario's wild, exposing harmful legislation, mobilizing citizens, and holding governments accountable when they fail in their duty to protect the land, water, and wild species.
We don't back down from powerful interests. When governments weaken environmental laws, when corporations threaten our forests and waters, when science is silenced, Earthroots fights back. And we've proven again and again that public action works.
From the frontlines of the Temagami blockades in the 1980's, where our founders helped stop road building through ancient pine forests, Earthroots has shown that public pressure backed by science and courage, can change the course of history.
Because when laws fail, and governments turn away, Earthroots stands up for the forests, the waters, the wildlife, and the future we all share.
Our Approach
Earthroots believes that real change begins when people stand together. Informed, empowered, and unafraid to speak truth to power. Our advocacy combines science, legal action, and grassroots mobilization to defend Ontario's wild spaces and species.
We work on three fronts:
Policy & Legislation
We monitor and challenge harmful laws, push for stronger environmental protections, and hold decision-makers accountable when they fail to uphold their responsibilities.
Legal Action
When governments break their own laws or silence public voices, we go to court, using the Environmental Bill of Rights and other legal tools to demand justice for nature.
Public Mobilization
From petitions and campaigns to community organizing, we bring people together to take action, because when citizens speak out, governments listen.
This integrated approach has helped Earthroots win historic victories for Ontario's environment and it's how we're meeting today's escalating threats with the courage and conviction they demand.
We don't just defend nature. We give it a voice.
