The Real Scoop on the Smoke and Fire

This past week large parts of the province and areas down into the eastern seaboard of the United States were choking under smoke generated from forest fires burning over 1000 kilometres away in northwestern Ontario. Aside from the obvious health and safety implications this event raised the ire of many American including members of Congress who blamed Canadian forest management for the phenomena and raged for retaliation. This was done in their ignorance and naiveté of the nature of the forest and conditions occurring.

Fortunately a substacker named Zeke Hausfather has provided us with a explanation of what the forest that is burning is like, how it is managed and what climate conditions have aggravated things. He also explains why the Americans are so misled.
