Consensus exits in the environmental community that logging should not take place in the Ogoki Forest because it will put Woodland Caribou at greater risk of extinction. Unfortunately, the government would rather uphold the forest industry’s interests rather than the sustainable use of public resources. Earthroots is encouraging Ontario citizens to take advantage of the final comment period for the Ogoki FMP because the public will not be consulted for another 10 years about what happens to this forest. Please let planners know that you are distressed that they have ignored pleas for adequate caribou conservation. Send a free fax through the Earthroots website! |
